Funeral arrangements set for Hopkinsville officer

A Hopkinsville police officer who was shot and killed this week will be laid to rest on Wednesday.

Funeral services for Officer Phillip Meacham, 38, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, at the Lyle Dunbar Gymnasium at Christian County High School.

Burial will follow at New Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the high school on Tuesday from 3 to 8 p.m.

Kentucky State Police say 34-year-old James Decoursey shot and killed Officer Meacham Thursday afternoon, then fled on foot then before taking off in a pickup truck. Officials in Clarksville, Tennessee later shot and killed Decoursey.

Meacham, who was off-duty at the time of the shooting, who was married and had two school-age children. He had been with the Hopkinsville department since May 2017. Before that, he worked for about 14 years with the Christian County Sheriff's Department.
